May 9- Day of Europe!

May 9th is Europe Day!

After World War II, the idea of forming a “united Europe” gradually gained strength on the European continent.

The implementation of this idea began in the 1950s. On May 9th, 1950, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman made a statement in Paris, where he put forward the idea of European integration.

The Schuman Declaration changed the future of the European continent.

Today: The European Union, with its 27 member states and almost 446 million people, celebrates the 74th anniversary of this declaration.

Every year in many countries around the world, May 9th is celebrated as the birthday of the European Union. This day has been celebrated in our country since 2004. In general, Georgia-EU relations began soon after our country gained independence.

The European Union has been funding various programs and projects in Georgia for over 30 years. Europe Day aims to ensure the unity, peace and prosperity of European countries.
