Bringing Portraits to Life
On the occasion of World Art Day, the Georgian-American School of Batumi implemented a project: “Bringing Portraits to Life”.
The goal of this interesting and creative project was to bring portraits of famous artists to life. On the recommendation of the art teacher, the students selected famous portraits of famous artists and tried to recreate them – not with a brush, but with costumes and makeup.
The children became living versions of the masterpieces of Niko Pirosmani, Leonardo da Vinci, Frida Kahlo, Jan Vermeer, Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and other great artists.
They not only resembled the characters in appearance, but also tried to convey their mood and character. During the project, the students developed the following skills:
- Creative thinking – they thought differently about how to convey the face and emotion in real life;
- Visual perception skills – carefully observed colors, shapes and details;
- Increased awareness of the artistic direction – better acquainted with artists and their work.
