About the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the main purpose of which is to encourage women in science and promote equality.

This date was established on December 22, 2015 at the initiative of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Committee.

On this day, the United Nations calls on countries, all people and organizations around the world to promote the equal development of women in science and education.

In order to promote women's involvement in science, under the leadership of the Science Department of the Georgian-American School of Batumi, elementary and secondary school students prepared and presented a presentation to students of grades V-VI on the importance of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and the contribution of women scientists to world scientific life.

To help raise awareness, students created informational posters about various famous female scientists, which were placed in the school's information space.
