May 9 - Europe Day
May 9 is Europe Day!
After the Second World War, the idea of establishing a "united Europe" gradually gained strength on the European continent.
The implementation of the mentioned idea started in the 50s of the last century. On May 9, 1950, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman made a statement in Paris, where he put forward the idea of European integration. The Schuman Declaration changed the future of the European continent.
Today: The European Union, together with its 27 member states and almost 446 million people, celebrates the 74th anniversary of this declaration.
Every year in many countries around the world, May 9 is celebrated as the birthday of the European Union. This day has been celebrated in our country since 2004.
In general, the relations between Georgia and the European Union started soon after the independence of our country.
For more than 30 years, the European Union has been financing various programs and projects in Georgia.
Europe Day serves to ensure the peace and prosperity of European countries: unity.
