American Studies at GASB
The relationship between the United States and Georgia is an important part of our country's recent history.
The United States is a strategic partner and friend of our country, which supports the territorial integrity of Georgia and the establishment of democratic state institutions.
The United States recognized Georgia's independence on December 25, 1991, when President George W. Bush announced the collapse of the Soviet Union. Prior to that, Georgia was part of the Soviet Union.
Diplomatic relations between the United States and Georgia began in 1992.
It is important for the Georgian-American School of Batumi to introduce American Studies lessons to students, which includes studying the history of the United States as well as studying US-Georgia relations from ancient times to the present day and discussing major US political, historical, and cultural events.
10th graders at GASB made interesting and comprehensive group presentations on these topics and held an interesting discussion.
